Dear Married Couples! In receiving the sacrament of marriage, you have agreed to let the Lord God, through his creative power, unite the both of you with ties that cannot be broken. The Lord Jesus says: “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” (Matthew 19:6)

A valid marriage is unbreakable. For God, there is no divorce. From the moment a couple is joined in the sacrament of marriage, the husband and the wife possess the treasure of the constant presence of Christ in their lives. He, our Saviour, the resurrected Lord, is the only source of reciprocal love.

Looking at the couples who have daily contact with Jesus in prayer, who receive Him in the Eucharist, and who regularly participate in the sacrament of penance, it is only they have true love in their hearts. The greatest spiritual tragedy is when people continue in a state of mortal sin because of an absence of a willingness for conversion in their lives. He who endures in mortal sin is in the process of spiritual death and thus is wilfully giving in to the rule of the kingdom of Satan.

Few people realize that the use of artificial birth control methods is intrinsically evil (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2370) and therefore, if fully understood, this can constitute a mortal sin. Once one becomes aware of this fact, but deliberately carries on with this method of birth control, then he or she is not allowed to receive Holy Communion while in such a state.

Everything that has great worth is achieved through hard work and self-sacrifice

“For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.” (1 Corinthians 11: 29-30) The Holy Bible clearly says that a radical departure from sin and unification with God is necessary to heal disease and injury.

It is the same with the sexual intimacy of a married couple. In God’s plans this is a sacred part of the sacrament of marriage, and should be experienced in the same way as the other sacraments. For God, the most intimate unification in the sexual life of a married couple reflects a participation in His Divine life and love. The sexual intimacy of a married couple is a place where God’s presence is most intensely felt. It now becomes clear why couples should become one only when they are in a state of grace, and never when they are in a state of mortal sin. In the light of God’s revelations, one can see what great evil there is in such sins as premarital sex, marital betrayal, artificial birth control, masturbation, ‘heavy’ petting, oral sex, homosexual acts and pornography.

These sinful acts cause our relationship with Christ to suffer greatly because they destroy love, deepen egoism, and lead to sexual addiction. They are mortal sins because they damage the ties of love with God and with others, cause spiritual death and enslavement to evil powers.

“My heart is most hurt by sins of impurity” – Jesus said to St. Faustina. In one of her mystic visions, God’s servant Rozalia Celakówna saw the image of Jesus after the scourging, and blood was flowing from his wounds. The Lord Jesus said to her: “Look, child, what terrible offence and pain I have been dealt due to sins of impurity, hatred, and murder (of children, that is, abortion). I can no longer bear the contempt and mockery caused by sins of impurity. If Poland does not become reborn spiritually, it will be destroyed. It is only through being spiritually reborn and giving way to the rule of my Heart that the salvation of Poland and other nations can be guaranteed.”
